Alison Day, M.A., CCC-SLP
Alison received a Bachelor of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology (1986) and a Master of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (1990) from Western Washington University. She has worked in Birth to Three Centers, the public schools, and in clinical settings. Areas of interest include working with children who have apraxia/dyspraxia of speech and children with language and social delays. Other clinical interests include early reading intervention and working with older children with reading delays. She has been specifically trained to provide the Lindamood Bell (LiPs), Hanen Early Language Program, TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication Handicapped Children), and the Picture Exchange Communication System interventions. When not working, Alison enjoys hiking, traveling, sailing and other outdoor interests.
Jan Stoppleworth, M.A., CCC-SLP
Jan received her Bachelor of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology (1989) and Master of Speech-Language Pathology (1991) from Western Washington University. Career clinical settings have been in geriatrics (hospital and skilled nursing facilities), public schools, birth to three and developmental preschool programs, and private and multidisciplinary clinics. In addition to emerging speech & language, developmental speech & language delays, feeding, and apraxia/dyspraxia of speech, Jan has experience testing and providing intervention in the areas of pediatric and adolescent language/learning disabilities including: cognitive social skills, phonological awareness, reading (decoding and comprehension), written language skills (including encoding skills), and study skills. She has been specifically trained to provide the Wilson Reading Program, Lindamood Bell (LiPS), and PROMP. (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) intervention. In her other life, Jan enjoys providing vocal and instrumental entertainment in the form of an original musical drama for the church setting, that has toured locally and as far away as Africa University in Zimbabwe, as well as performing in concerts and providing musical leadership for retreats, weddings, etc. Her motto has become: You're not old until you stop having birthdays!
Amy Baker, CCC-SLP
Amy received her Bachelor of Science in 1994 from Florida State University and her Masters of Science in 1996 from Vanderbilt University. She has worked in an autism clinic, outpatient clinics, and school settings and has provided home-based therapy. Amy’s primary areas of interest are working with children with pervasive developmental disorders, including autism, and working with families of children with language and social delays. She has experience with a variety of disorders, loves the ability to collaborate with occupational and physical therapists when appropriate, and is Hanen Early Language Program certified. Amy understands the utmost importance of the family in each child’s therapeutic success and strives to teach parents the best techniques to support their child’s speech and language development. Outside of work, Amy enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, reading, and taking advantage of the wonderful trails in our area.
Kate Bretl, CCC-SLP
Kate received a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders (2002) and a Masters of Arts in Communication Disorders (2004) from Northern Michigan University. She completed her Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) at a pediatric clinic in Bellevue where she honed her skills in autism and developmental apraxia of speech. Kate joined the team at Cascade Children's Therapy with her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in October of 2007. Areas of interest include autism, developmental apraxia/dyspraxia of speech, and developmental speech and language delays. Kate has specific training in PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) and Verbal Behavior techniques. She is working towards expanding her knowledge base and experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems. Outside of work, Kate and her husband keep busy riding their quads in the sand dunes in Oregon, camping, fishing, crabbing, making soap and attending Seahawks games. She is also a baseball fan, deeply devoted to the Chicago White Sox.
